A substantial art installation is made possible only with teamwork.

Adelphi University’s seventh Outdoor Sculpture Biennial features six newcomers and four veterans of biennials past. This selection presents the great talents of Miggy Buck, John Clement, Maria Hall, Ed Haugevik, William King, Anti Liu, Johnny Poux, Kim Radochia, Christopher Saucedo, and Hans Van de Bovenkamp. Their three-dimensional constructions have created a very unique installation from John Clement’s “Duke” weighing over 3,000 lbs. to Johnny Poux’s slender mast “Seed” towering at 35 feet. Each artist brings their own diverse languages to the viewer.

I would like to recognize all that have helped create this memorable exhibition, my team Richard Vaux, Exhibitions Assistant; Katarzyna Bator, Erica Corso, and Alexandra Hiner-Diana student Exhibitions Assistants; and Anti Liu, Director of Ceramics and Fine Arts Professional Technician. They were all instrumental in every aspect of this Biennial. I am grateful to the University Facilities Staff: Directors James Kosloski, Robert Conaghan, Robert Shipley, and Gerard Tangredi; fabrication specialists Bruce Brine, Brian Mearini, and Fred Rose; and landscape installation engineers Jimmy Campbell, Raymond Rogers, Frank Simeone, and Ronald Soto. To the entire Office of Public Safety: Eugene Palma, Assistant Vice President for Public Safety and all the Public Safety sergeants and officers I thank you all for your tireless efforts. A special thank you to Vinnie Montepaone and the crew of VDM Mason Corp. for creating concrete bases that perfectly complement the sculptures. To all, I extend my heartfelt thanks and appreciation for their tireless assistance and expertise in making this installation possible.

We hope the creative work of the ten sculptors and their contribution to contemporary sculpture is enjoyed and admired by every visitor to our campus over the next two years.
